It may have been a long year, but there’s always something to be thankful for. Though the pandemic has continued to make life challenging for individuals and businesses, it’s given us the opportunity to come together and support our communities.
The Bowery Mission in New York City has been rebuilding hope since the 1870s and this year LAFCO is joining the fight. For every purchase made now through November 22nd, LAFCO will donate a Thanksgiving meal to the Bowery Mission.
About the Bowery Mission
Founded in the 1870s to serve the homeless and hungry in New York, The Bowery Mission is a results-oriented organization that has consistently been recognized as one of New York City’s most effective. The mission aims to serve the men, women, and children of the New York metro area who are caught in the cycles of poverty, hopelessness, and dependency.
The Bowery Mission partners with other organizations throughout the city and across the country to provide compassionate care and life transformation.
This year the Bowery Mission marks its 142nd year of service by rising up in their annual tradition of gathering New York neighbors together with delicious, warm meals and shared compassion. The need is greater than ever, and the Bowery Mission has made adjustments to their plans to account for COVID-19 safety protocols. Their special Thanksgiving to-go meals will be served outdoors with a hot breakfast and a traditional Thanksgiving meal served in the afternoon.
The Bowery Mission invites those who would like to enjoy their hot meals onsite to make use of the limited outdoor seating. Partially open tents will be available and social distancing is encouraged.

It’s thanks to donations from caring community members like you that the Bowery Mission has been successful in fulfilling their mission for over 140 years. The Bowery Mission is grateful for compassionate partners like you who will help them serve 50,000 meals throughout Manhattan during the months of October and November.
