If you close your eyes, the right fragrance can take you anywhere. A smoky, pine-scented candle can make you feel like you’re walking through the winter woods on the way back to your ski cabin. A combination of fresh marine scents can give you the feeling of relaxing by the beach as the waves slap against each other. Your favorite scent might even transport you back to your favorite childhood memories.
That’s the beauty of LAFCO New York fragranced candles. From bright and uplifting to calming and soothing, a variety of luxurious fragrances await you. If you can’t make up your mind, choose an assortment of classic, signature, or 3-wick candles to place throughout your home.
One of the main benefits of LAFCO candles is the care and precision we put into each candle made. This extends to the candle vessel as well. Each vessel is made to be reused after you’ve finished burning your candle. With a little creativity you can continue to enjoy your LAFCO candle vessel for years to come.
Why Repurpose Your LAFCO Candle?
All scented candles are not created equal. You can easily smell the difference between an inexpensive candle and a luxury boutique candle. When it comes to LAFCO fragranced candles, however, the quality is not just in the fragrance – it’s in the entire candle, including the vessel. LAFCO fragranced candle vessels are hand-blown by artisanal glass blowers and come in a wide variety of colors.
When you choose a LAFCO candle, you’re choosing more than just a fragrance – you’re choosing a piece of handmade home décor and you don’t want to discard it simply because the candle has burned out. Not only can you continue to enjoy the beauty of LAFCO craftsmanship by repurposing your candle vessel, but you’ll be doing the environment a favor as well.
Preparing the Jar to Be Repurposed
LAFCO fragranced candles come in three sizes ranging from the single-wick 6.5-ounce Classic and 15.5-ounce Signature sizes to the three-wick 30-ounce size. You can expect a LAFCO Classic fragranced candle to burn up to 50 hours while the Signature burns for up to 90 hours and the 3-wick up to 120 hours. At the end of your candle’s life, all it takes is a few simple steps to prepare the vessel for repurposing.
Here’s how to prepare your candle vessel for repurposing:
- Let your LAFCO fragranced candle cool to room temperature.
- Place the candle vessel in the freezer and leave it overnight to harden the wax.
- Scrape out the hardened wax with a butter knife, using care not to crack the glass.
- To remove any final traces of wax, place the vessel in the sink and fill with warm water.
- Let the vessel soak for a few hours – any remaining wax should have solidified at the top.
- Remove the solidified wax then wash the vessel with soap and water.

I use one of my LAFCO candle holders to place my LAFCO soap in. It fits just perfectly and looks great!
So happy to hear that, Dianne! 🙂
LOL It’s the biggest reason I buy the LAFCO candles! I collect the glassware! Need more variations of blues, grays and pink/reds. Oh and maybe some more in brown and/or black tones. ?
Add in uses: dips and veggie sticks…small one for the dip and large ones for carrot sticks, celery sticks, etc.
Also bar use for stirrers and straws or even cocktail slices and olives.
That’s great to hear, Kelley!
1 I use to hold the remote controls for TV, Blu-ray player, cable, etc.
2. Another for cuticle scissors, fingernail file a pen & pencil & various Knick knacks is common daily use
3. Obviously, juice glass for the children with the littler ones
4. Anything else that fits my whims
Those are great ideas, Gwendol!

Will you ever offer refills?
Will you ever let your customers choose the scent and color of glass container ?
Thank you , Carolyn
Lost large diffuser container and I have 8 refills. Can I get another container?
I’d love to send my vessels back to reuse. We LOVE these candles and as a result have LOTS of leftover vessels that breaks my heart to throw away!! It would be such a great program to be able to return these to you to re-use. Maybe a 5 or 10% discount? Maybe you keep the price the same but donate the 5-10% to a charity??? IDK, just would love to not throw these beauties away!!
How do I remove the metal part at the bottom of the container after I have removed the wax?
I wish you would set up a program to recycle and return the vessels and re-use them in your product production. I don’t find them useful around my home once the candle is used up. Thank you.
I would love for LAFCO to start selling replacement candles that fit their glass jars. That way we could just buy candles and pop them into the glass we already have. It would reduce clutter for your customers and create a new revenue stream for you, so it’s a win-win!
Cathy- That’s an amazing idea!! Hey- Lafco….any thoughts?? I think there’s quite a few people that would love that option…. I have too many empty containers but not as much need (or desire to mess with) for repurposing them. Sure would enjoy putting a brand new full replacement candle back in those containers! (Trust me, I won’t stop buying the beautiful jars…always want to try a new flavor!)

+1! I would love the ability to send my container back and get a replacement candle.
A wine bottle fits perfectly in them! It’s a great way to avoid a wine ring on the counter/table, or pop one in the freezer and use it as a chiller. We use them this way all the time!
Hello – I am a devoted customer. But this is ridiculous. You should have a recycling program to take back the glass.
I re-use mine as holiday gifts for my children’s teachers. We fill with floral pea gravel and place a few paper white bulbs in them. It makes a beautiful gift, it teaches the kids about the second R in the “reduce-reuse-recycle” and the teachers really respond to the symbolism of growth and blossoming. I don’t know if the teachers appreciate the quality of the glass containers but I’ve kept these stunners out of the landfill. Everyone wins! (But ps I’d live to buy some refills for me too!)
I use all my candle holders as beautiful violet urns. People always comment on it. Some I have given away as gifts.
